You must be an individual to join Grandmaster Chess Institute (“GMI”). If you are a minor (defined as “Younger than 18 years old”), you must seek parental approval from your parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) to join GMI. Accepting this Terms and Conditions explicitly indicates that you have obtained such parental approval.
You may only register one account with GMI. Any duplicate accounts will be subject to termination at the discretion of GMI. Any outstanding account balance in such duplicate accounts will be subject to be forfeited at the discretion of GMI.
The Program is only available via access to the GMI Web site (https://www.GrandmasterInstitute.com). You must have Internet access and an email address to be eligible to receive the privileges and benefits of membership. GMI is not responsible for your inability to connect to the Internet, log into the GMI Web site, or access your GMI account.
Audio/Video/Text Release: You must grant permission to GMI, its owner, staff, and affiliates to record, publish or distribute GMI chess class and event sessions that may contain audio, video, text and other information. You waive any rights of compensation or ownership thereto. Furthermore,
You understand that as a GMI member, when you attend GMI classes and other events, your video, audio, name and chat may be included in the GMI class recording. You give your permission for GMI to record any chess classes and events that may contain such information.
You give your consent to GMI to publish or distribute these class or event recordings on GMI website, as well as for promotional purpose or other purpose as determined by GMI in GMI’s sole discretion. You waive your rights to be notified before such publication or distribution.
You consent that all GMI class or event recordings shall be the sole property of GMI. You waive your rights to receive any compensation or consideration in connection with any use of these GMI recordings.
You hold harmless and release GMI from all liability, petitions, and causes of action which you, your heirs, representative, executors, administrators, or any other persons may make while acting on your behalf. You also release GMI from any liability caused by any other people who might misuse GMI class or event recordings in inappropriate or illegal ways without GMI’s permission.
You agree that this release authorization shall continue indefinitely, unless you otherwise revoke this authorization in writing.

GMI Bucks rewards and other discounts awarded to Members are of no cash value and can only be redeemed or taken when paying for future GMI events or memberships. These rewards and discounts are subject to adjustments for cancellations, and any other events. Such adjustments can be applied to Member accounts at any time by GMI at its sole discretion. Should you disagree with any adjustments made to your account, your sole remedy is to withdraw from the Program.
It is the member’s responsibility to keep his/her account information current in order to participate in GMI activities, including live classes, reviewing recordings of past events. In the event that your information is not current, GMI is not responsible for any missed events and/or member benefits.
You must be logged into GMI and enter your password to access your account. You may check or update your account information at any time you are able to access the GMI Web site. We are doing everything that we can to reduce downtime of our web site, however, there is no guarantee that the web site is always accessible at all times.
GMI is entitled to act on instructions received regarding your account information, including resetting your password. Your password is stored at GMI web site in encrypted form. GMI does not know your plain text password. For security purposes, it is recommended that you memorize your password, and do not write it down. You are responsible for keeping your email address, password, account names, and other account information confidential. GMI is not responsible for changes made to your account by someone else who uses your account information.
You authorize GMI to disclose to third parties information you have provided, or information that GMI has obtained about your GMI account: (i) to agents of GMI or its affiliates, such as independent auditors, consultants or attorneys; (ii) to comply with government agency or court orders or requests; or (iii) in providing aggregated and non-personalized marketing services for an advertising or merchant partner.
Refund. Yearly membership fee is not refundable.
By registering with GMI, you agree to let us email you class information as well as communications related to your account administration (e.g. that we’ve updated your account information, reset your password, etc). You can opt-out to our marketing emails. You can unsubscribe to all our promotional emails. You can unsubscribe to promotional mailings by following the unsubscribe link on any of these emails. Since we need to communicate account information with you in order to run your account, you can’t unsubscribe from account information emails. But rest assured that we don’t send account emails unnecessarily. These are not promotional emails, and are only used to notify you about your account changes and furture certain GMI events. If you don’t wish to ever hear from us, you can close down your account by contacting GMI support.
You may not generate or facilitate unsolicited email (“spam”) in any activities related to GMI. Such activity includes, but is not limited to
sending email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act or any other applicable anti-spam law
imitating or impersonating another person or his, her or its email address, or creating false accounts for the purpose of sending spam
sending emails to users who have requested to be removed from a mailing list
sending unsolicited emails to significant numbers of email addresses belonging to individuals and/or entities with whom you have no preexisting relationship
THE GMI PROGRAM IS BEING PROVIDED TO MEMBER “AS IS” WITH NO WARRANTY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GMI DISCLAIMS ALL REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE PROGRAM, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE.
GMI DOES NOT WARRANT, GUARANTEE, OR MAKE ANY REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE BENEFIT OF, OR ACCURACY OF CLASSES AND EVENTS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PROGRAM. IN ADDITION, ALTHOUGH GMI INTENDS TO TAKE REASONABLE STEPS TO PREVENT THE INTRODUCTION OF VIRUSES OR OTHER DESTRUCTIVE MATERIALS TO THE GMI WEB SITE, GMI DOES NOT WARRANT, GUARANTEE OR MAKE ANY REPRESENTATIONS THAT THIS SITE IS FREE OF DESTRUCTIVE MATERIALS. IN ADDITION, GMI DOES NOT WARRANT THAT ACCESS TO THIS SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, AND GMI ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY YOUR ACCESS, OR INABILITY TO ACCESS TO GMI WEB SITE OR ATTENDING GMI CLASSES OR EVENTS.
IN NO EVENT WILL ANY OTHER COMPANY WITH WHICH GMI HAS A CORPORATE PARTNERING RELATIONSHIP, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, CO-BRANDING, CO-MARKETING, JOINT DEVELOPMENT, A MERCHANT RELATIONSHIP, OR A SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIP (EACH A “CORPORATE PARTICIPANT”) BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR NON-PERFORMANCE OF GMI OBLIGATIONS. YOU AGREE NOT TO SUE ANY CORPORATE PARTICIPANT FOR NON-PERFORMANCE BY GMI. IN NO EVENT SHALL GMI BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, CLAIMS OR LOSSES INCURRED (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION COMPENSATORY, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES), HOWEVER CAUSED AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY ARISING IN CONNECTION WITH: (I) THE PROGRAM; (II) ANY FAILURE, DELAY, OR DECISION BY GMI IN ADMINISTERING THE PROGRAM; (III) THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THIS WEB SITE; OR (IV) THE PURCHASE OR USE OF ANY MEMBERSHIPS, EVENTS, OR SERVICES, EVEN IF GMI, OR REPRESENTATIVES THEREOF, ARE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, CLAIMS, OR LOSSES AND NOTWITHSTANDING ANY FAILURE OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF ANY LIMITED REMEDY.
MEMBER AGREES TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD GMI, ITS PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, OWNERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS AND EMPLOYEES, HARMLESS FROM ANY CLAIM OR DEMAND, INCLUDING REASONABLE ATTORNEY’S FEES, MADE BY ANY THIRD PARTY DUE TO OR ARISING OUT OF MEMBER’S USE OF THE PROGRAM, THE VIOLATION OF THESE POLICIES BY MEMBER, OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY MEMBER, OR OTHER USER OF THE PROGRAM USING THE MEMBER’S ACCOUNT, OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OR OTHER RIGHT OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, OR AS A RESULT OF ANY THREATENING, LIBELOUS, OBSCENE, HARASSING OR OFFENSIVE MATERIAL CONTAINED IN ANY MEMBER COMMUNICATIONS.
GMI reserves the right to terminate the Program at any time with notice. This means you will have sixty (60) days from the date notice of Program termination is provided to Members to request month-based prorated balanced in your account. Notification of Program termination will be sent to the email address you provide to GMI during the registration process. GMI will not be responsible for failing to notify you of Program termination where such failure is caused by any reason outside the control of GMI, including an error in your email program, an inaccurate email address, your failure to check for your email online, or your failure to inform GMI of a change in your email address.
GMI may modify this Agreement from time to time, with or without notice, and your continued participation in the Program after such modification shall be deemed to be your acceptance of any such modification. It is your responsibility to check the Terms and Conditions page of the GMI Web site regularly to determine whether this Agreement has been modified. If you do not agree to any modification of this Agreement, you must immediately cease participation in the Program.
Membership in the Program is subject to the Program Terms and Conditions. Any failure to comply with the Program Terms and Conditions, any fraud or abuse relating to your membership with GMI, or any misrepresentation of any information furnished to GMI or its affiliates by you, or anyone acting on your behalf, may result in the termination of your membership in the Program, cancellation of your GMI account and/or forfeiture of your accrued rewards. Any account that is closed will no longer allow user login under that username and password.
All questions or disputes regarding the Program, including without limitation, questions or disputes regarding eligibility for the Program, or the eligibility of rewards for accrual or redemption, must be submitted to GMI at support@grandmasterinstitute.com. Any such disputes shall be resolved by GMI at its sole discretion. All interpretations of Program Terms and Conditions shall be at the sole discretion of GMI. In the event that an error is made by GMI, your sole remedy shall be the month-based prorated balance of your GMI membership. In the event that a dispute cannot be resolved, your sole remedy shall be to close your account at GMI and terminate your participation in the Program.
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without reference to conflicts of law rules. As a condition of the use of the GMI website and service, you (the Member) agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the county of Fort Bend, Texas and therefore agree to file any grievance or suit of any kind exclusively in the courts located within the county of Fort Bend. If any provision of this Agreement is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent possible, and the other provisions contained herein will remain in full force and effect. GMI’s failure to insist upon or enforce strict performance of any provision of the Agreement shall not be construed as a waiver of any provision or right. Nothing in this Agreement shall be construed as creating or constituting a partnership, joint venture or agency relationship between GMI and any other of its Business Partners. No GMI Business Partner shall have the ability to create any obligation on GMI’s behalf. This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and GMI with respect to the Program.
